Kaylin Melia George
KAYLIN MELIA GEORGE grew up listening to her mother’s vibrant bedtime stories—all descended from the rich oral tradition of the Hawaiian islands. The planting of these early seeds inspired Kaylin to dedicate her life to storytelling.

Kaylin began her professional journey in filmmaking. She worked for many years as the Resident Writer & Director for a Los Angeles based production company. Her work has included narrative films honored by the Academy of Motion Arts and Sciences, national commercials for publicly traded companies, and documentaries for some of the most recognizable nonprofits in the world. Her work has screened all around the globe, from international film festivals to the United Nations Conference.

In 2023, Kaylin authored her debut book, Aloha Everything, and the title quickly took the world by storm. After breaking records with its indie release, the debut was acquired for traditional publishing and distributed globally through the world’s largest retailers—including Barnes & Noble. In its first week, online sales rocketed Aloha Everything to the #1 New Release in its Amazon category.

The title has since garnered some of the most prestigious accolades in the literary world, including the renowned APALA Award, which made Kaylin Melia the first person of Pacific descent to receive the honor. Additional distinctions include the Notable Books for a Global Society Award, the Center for the Study of Multicultural Literature Best Books Award, the Pele Award, the Kirkus Star, the New York Public Library’s 'Best Books' designation, and official selection for shelving at the Library of Congress as a heritage piece for the state of HawaiÊ»i.

Today, Kaylin appears for speaking events, book signings, film festivals, school visits, tv & podcasts, and author tours all around the nation—including the National Book Festival, Publisher's Weekly, the American Librarians Association Conference, the HawaiÊ»i International Conference on Education, the AAPI Joy Festival, the Festival of AAPI Books, the Children's Book Podcast, and many more.
